Public Universities in Kenya are increasingly facing the challenges of providing access to an ever growing populace who qualify for University education.This is in the face of overstretched facilities and increasing global competition for the best students and staff.The University must, as a matter of urgency, develop solutions to these challenges by continuously monitoring and evaluating the internal and external environments while fostering a climate of flexibility, creativity and innovations. University education expansion to other regions in this country and the development of relevant and demand driven programme will not only expand access but will also give institutions of higher learning the competitive edge they need in order to survive in the 21st Century.
