University of Kabianga Holds it's 11th Cultural Week
The University of Kabianga is celebrating its 11th Cultural Week under the theme “Navigating Modern Challenges Through Our Cultural Diversity and Talents.” Organized by the Office of the Dean of Students, the week-long event is bringing the university community together through cultural expression, sports, wellness, and social engagement.
The cultural week began on Monday, 8th December 2025, with students engaging in both preparation and community service. The morning involved entertainment and marking of sports fields, followed by a major clean-up of CHEPNYOGA and Kabianga markets, reinforcing the university’s commitment to social responsibility.
Tuesday, 9th December 2025, was filled with athletic and cultural excitement. The day started with Athletics Cross Country, which was flagged off by the Vice Chancellor. Students then took part in thematic sports such as: Soccer, Netball, Handball, Volleyball, Table Tennis, Badminton, Taekwondo, Chess and Darts.
Wednesday marked the official launch of the Cultural Week. The Vice Chancellor presided over a colourful ceremony filled with traditional songs, dances, and cultural performances. Students also showcased traditional foods, representing various communities and celebrating Kenya’s rich diversity. The Vice Chancellor applauded students for embracing culture as a powerful tool for unity and social harmony.
On Thursday, the programme will shift focus to mental wellness, with the university set to host the Comrades for Comrades Mental Wellness Sensitization.This session will highlight the importance of peer support, emotional well-being, and mental health awareness among students. It is expected to empower learners with practical knowledge on coping mechanisms, counseling services, and the significance of looking out for one another.
The week will officially come to a close on Saturday, with the much-anticipated Mr. and Mrs. Kabianga competition. This glamorous event will feature contestants from various schools showcasing their cultural wear, talents, confidence, creativity, and eloquence. The pageant will draw a large audience, and the new Mr. and Mrs. Kabianga will be crowned as cultural ambassadors of the university.
