UoK Participates in the CEIL Summit 2025
University of Kabianga Vice- Chancellor, Prof. Eric Koech led a delegation to the 4th Commercial and Entrepreneurial Institutions Leaders (CEIL) Summit that was held in Mombasa between 11th – 12th September 2025. The event was presided over by the Head of Public Service, Mr. Felix Koskei who challenged Universities and Research Institutions to focus on the transfer of research outputs to the market. The Vice- Chancellor was accompanied by Deputy Vice- Chancellor for Planning Research and Development, Prof. Maurice Oduor and Director of Research, Linkages and Extension, Prof. Issa Mwamzandi.
The summit which was hosted by the Kenya National Innovation Agency (KENIA) was themed “Catalysing Innovations and Entrepreneural Ecosystems.” The deliberations emphasized the need to strengthen industry academia linkages, pooling sustainable resources and accelerating research to commercialization. Prof. Oduor was a discussant at a panel discussion themed “Bridging the Skills- to- Industry Gap in Universities and TVETs Training.” Practical innovations for job creation and alleviation of socioeconomic challenges were also displayed.
Participants were drawn from Universities, TVETs, Industry Leaders, Government Agencies, Researchers and Innovators from different parts of the world. The event was also attended by Prof. Shaukat Abdulrazak Principal Secretary for Science, Research and Innovation, Taita Taveta Governor, H.E. Dr. Andrew Mwadime and Mombasa Senator, Hon. Faki Mohamed.
During the summit, Prof. Oduor was among the DVCs who graduated, having completed intensive training on Entrepreneural Leadership Programme (ELTP), this culminated into the issuance of certificates. The University Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Koech and the Director R,L&E, Prof. Mwamzandi had previously completed ELTP and IWG training respectively. To this end, UoK reaffirms her commitment to foster entrepreneurial thinking and drive the research to commercialization agenda in the country and globally.
